Prescriptions to stay calm in crisis

Last weekends I have the opportunity to attend a few talks by one yogi from India. As always when i listened to such talk I always get intoxicated. I would have attend it every night if it were held every night.

The methods or prescriptions to remain calm in crisis are :

1. Every morning when we wake up, make the first ten minutes we spend concentrating on one positive affirmation, eg. " I am a peaceful soul" or " I am responsible for my own feelings", etc
(Only each thought per day)

2. Practise one minute pause for at least 8 times a day. During those pause of one minute, reaffirm the morning thought eg "I am a peaceful" or "I am responsible for my own feelings" etc respectively. Those pause can be for eg during 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm, 2: 00 pm, 3;00 pm till 8 times.

3. During night time, before we fall asleep, as we are resting, roll the scroll of the day. Accept everything as good. Whatever has happen is good. (What may appears to be a mistakes, is a lesson that we have learned and move on) Thanks everyone that we have deal with for the day including those we may have dislike for. Thanks God and good nite .

We are encouraged to try for say 2 - 3 months and see how. Thereafter other things being equal, we shall be able to move forward smoothly without stress.

Maid's Ban - So what

Talking about maid ban, I was thinking if I ever can afford to hire maid, if my salary were RM20K per month, I will still not be hiring maid. The reasons are :

1. I do not feel safe with any person around me. It is a very high risk. I have read of cases where the maid murder the employer once she got to irritated with the employer. One never knows if they may not like us through our behaviour or mannerism. A lot of them also mix urine in their boss's beverages. Some burn dried menstruates and let their employer to eat it through cooking in the food. I don't trust them to prepare meals for me. I always remember the saying, "It is much easier to avoid external 'ghost' than internal 'ghost' which stays around you".

2. There are cases where they inform their so-called boyfriends of our time table and schedule and assist in robbery and theft.

3. Some elope away with their boyfriends after a while . This is not too bad if they had not also gone off with our cash or jewellery.

4. Some hit the very weak elderly while the younger sons or daughters are out for work. The maid hit the elderly as the way to vent out their boredom and some simply because of jealousy, laziness and unreasonableness.

5. I think majority have seen before, the video where the maid and hit kicked the toddler as if the toddler is a ball.

6. I also heard of cases where they don't rinse properly the utensils, clothes. I cannot stand those lackadaisical attitude.

So don't you think it will be much stress free without a maid then with a maid. What's wrong with a little bit messy in our place. We can clean it as and when we have the mood and time.

I just talk for the sake of updating my blog tonight. However they are not without sincerity from my heart.

Streamyx is good enough

On Sun 21/6/09 morning while I was watching my plants in the garden, a malay man came to my house. He said, "Cik, kami ada menerima lapuran daripada cik mengenai masaalah streamyx." "Oh, I am a bit shock, I haven't inform anyone that on Saturday night I have lodged a report with streamyx regarding slow browsing and line keeps down and interupt very frequently." I said "Ya, memang betul, tetapi betulkah kamu dari streamyx, sila tolong tunjukkan kad pengenalan dari streamyx." He showed me his Telekom Sreamyx card. Luckily it was a genuine one. I allowed him to come in to check my modem and computer.

Upon checking he told me my modem a older version one is not compatible with the server at their new substation. But anyhow he assured me that they will try again to configure the compatibility between the main server at streamyx substation in my area. If that be unsucessful I will have to change my modem to ADSL streamyx modem. I said "OK, I shall wait and see then."

Today, Tues 23/6/09, one of the streamyx man called me up again. He said, "Cik, kami sudah program di server kami, cuba cik cek speed komputer cik,". As at that time I was in the office working, I couldn't check. After I reached home I tested my browsing speed now is downloading speed 681 kbps, and uploading speed is 271 kbps. Well, I can smile with an appreciation smile. I will not want to risk changing to other broad band vendor. This is my sixth year using streamyx and so far it has never disappoint me. Hopefully streamyx will continue to sustain its efficiency and prompt action always.

Am I living the way I should?

Am I living my life in accordance with the teachings I follow, whether it be Christianity, Hinduism, Islam , Buddhism, Judaism or whatever. Am I adopting spirituality in my dealings with others? Spirituality does not mean sitting in a church or temples for long hours per day.

Spirituality means a life with values based on truth rather than the acquisition of objects: a life in which I can understand and appreciate the importance of developing good qualities within myself: divine virtues such as tolerance, co-operation, honest, etc a life in which I can communicate and relate to others with a smile in my eyes and happiness in my voice: My aim should be to make the best of the life i am living and to be honest with myself and truthful in my dealings with others.

This is what I have been advised and taught. Naturally there is a gap between reality and the ideal . My own self assessment and evaluation is ............... I got to think over it to make a better accurate judgment. Anyway variance sure got one, who don't.

Probable penis evolution and its consequences

Tonight is cooling. As I have nothing much to do, my mind keeps wondering. This time I am thinking of the last few days news of the young boy without penis. I have no intention of making a joke out of him. Never anything like this.

Just wondering, if in future there are any more cases such as this without penis, then possibly this is man's natural evolution. When such kids grow up, they will not have any sex intercourse the normal way. Penis becomes extinct. Then there will be no more sex intercourse. Copulation will be the thing of the past. Fucking becomes history. No more xxxxx websites. Prostitutes also need to change profession. Aids, HIV, herpes, syphilis etc stop to spread. Babies at that time possibly born through other non vice methods. Haha, this is just my fucking thought for tonight, weird imagination for tonight. Good night laugh to you all.

Feeling Proof

We have heard of water-proof camera, watch, fool-proof machine, living- proof. termite-proof, etc What I want to have or to be is feeling proof. Feeling proof means more than not susceptible to feeling sensitive. Feeling proof is going beyond all sorts of feeling eg, worry, concern, angry, upset, sad, missing, yearning, craving, pity etc. I was told I can acquired this through meditation. It is still a long long way for me to achieve this level. Still learning, and making effort. The benefits of feeling proof is that one shall not be affected by any outcome, any news, and happenings. Stress will be the matter of the past then.

I think this should be my aim and objective ; feeling proof. If I ever ahieve it, I will still be appear loving and friendly from the outside. Internally everything is of no concern to me anymore. Sound cold and harsh but it is very beneficial to the beholder. I believe many people are already having this skill but I am just start to learn. It means come what may, what the heck. One blog which I have read (can't remember the name) he commented on what the heck people keep writing /talking about happiness. Why bother chasing of happiness, shouldn't it be as it is. He lamented something about can't stand people especially women keep harping on happiness. This expression indicate that this man already achieve the "feeling proof" stage either knowling or un-knowling by him. He is very lucky. He is already has "feeling proof".

The benefits of feeling proof are many. By being feeling proof one is harder to contract diseases such as cholesterol too. One become unshakeable and immovable in turbulent circumstances. Calm and cool in a chaotic peacelessness environment. How I wish I can faster achieve it.

High Blood Cholesterol

Having a high cholesterol level myself makes me read everything about cholesterol. What upset me is that my medical check up showed I have higher cholesterol compared to last year. So sad that after coming home, after having my lunch I fall asleep for nearly 3 - 4 hours. One thing general hospital is very good, is that as it is not in business for profits, they discourage people from taking medicine for lowering cholesterol. The reasons are in the long term these medicine may have side effects in damaging one's kidney and liver.

Hypercholesterolaemia or increase in cholesterol is mainly a digestive problem caused by rich foods such as fried food, excessive consumption of milk and its products like ghee, butter, and cream, white flour, sugar, cakes, pastries, biscuits, cheese, ice-cream as well as meat, fish and eggs. Other causes of increase in cholesterol are irregularity in habits, smoking and drinking alcohol.

Stress has been found to be a major cause of increased level of cholesterol. Adrenaline and cortison are both released in the body under stress. This, in turn, produces a fat metabolising reaction. Adrenal glands of executive type aggressive persons produce more adrenaline than the easy going men. Consequently they suffer six to eight times more heart attack than the relaxed men.

The Cure
This can be achieved by improving the diet and changing the life style. Foods rich in cholesterol and saturated fats, which lead to increase in low density one (LDL) level, should be reduced to the minimum. Cholesterol-rich foods are eggs, organ meats and most cheese. Butter, bacon, beef, whole milk, virtually all food of animal origin as well as two vegetable oils, namely coconut and palm, are high in saturated fasts and these should be replaced by polysaturated fats such as corn, sunflower, soyabeans and sesame oil which tend to lower the level of LDL. There are monosaturated fats such as olive and peanuts oils which have more or less neutral effect on the LDL level.

The amount of fibre in the diet also influences the cholesterol levels and LDL can be lowered by taking diets rich in fibres. The most significant sources of dietary fibre are unprocessed wheat bran, whole cereals such as wheat, rice, barley, rye legumes such as potato, carrot, beet and turnips; fruits like mango and guava and green vegetables such as cabbage, lady's finger, lettuce and celery. Oat bran is especially beneficial in lowering LDL cholesterol.

Lecithin, also a fatty food substance and the most abundant of the phospholipids, is highly beneficial in case of increase in cholesterol level. It has the ability to break up cholesterol into small particles which can be easily handled by the system. With sufficient intake of lecithin, cholesterol cannot build up against the walls of the arteries and veins. It also increases the production of bile acids made from cholesterol, thereby reducing its amount in the blood. Egg yolk, vegetables oils, whole grain cereals, soyabeans and unpasteurised milk are rich sources of lecithin. The cells of the body are also capable of synthesizing it as needed, if several of the B vitamins are present.

Person with high blood cholesterol levels should drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water everyday as regular drinking of water stimulates the excretory activity of the skin and kidneys. This in turns facilitates elimination of excessive cholesterol from the system, Regular drinking of coriander water also helps lower blood cholesterol as it is a good diuretic and stimulates the kidneys. It is prepared by boiling dry seeds of coriander and straining the decoction after cooling.

Regular exercise also plays an important role in lowering the LDL cholesterol and in raising the level of protective HDL (high density one). Jogging, brisk walking, swimming, bicycling and playing badminton are excellent forms of exercise.

Stevia the sweetest

Presently the popular plant in my town here is Stevia, perennial herb plants. Its leaves is really the sweetest among all plants.

When I was at the plants nursery one uncle bought 4 pots. I bought 2 pots. My friend bought 1 pot. Selling like hot cakes. The price is RM15/pot as shown in the picture.

What is Stevia's Chemical Make-up?

Stevia owes its sweet, licorice-like flavor to compounds called glycosides. Stevia contains eight different glycosides, the sweetest of which is stevioside. It has also been found to contain estevin, a compound 150 times as sweet as an equivalent amount of sugar. Other active compounds that have been identified include about 100 phytonutrients and volatile oils.

Aside from its potent, non-caloric sweetening properties, stevia also has additional beneficial health and medicinal properties.

Medicinal Properties of Stevia
Herbal Properties Actions
Hypoglycemic Lowering blood sugar
Hypotensive Lowering blood pressure
Anti-inflammatory Reducing inflammation
Cardiotonic A heart tonic
Anti-viral Kills viruses
Anti-microbial Preventing and treating infection
Anti-fungal Preventing and inhibiting fungal growth
Diuretic Increases the flow of urine

If you are looking for a safe, natural substitute for table sugar, or do not care much for those commercial, chemical alternatives that come packaged in blue and pink packets, stevia is definitely an alternative that you can get sweet on.

Hospital Visit - Gratitude

This year I went to hospital twice. The first was I visit my colleague who was not well. The scene at the hospital, where I saw so many sick patients, many in wheel chair, some are very sick, some are lame, some with tube all over their bodies. I saw one lady with one leg in a wheel chair going to have her health checked. She has only one leg and using 2 clutches trying to open the door. As I sat very far away, one person who sat nearer assist her. What a pitiful sight . There I also see some handicap people. Some with bandages on their limb, either legs, hands or arms. Some are very young people in their teens years still can be very sick, lying on the bed. I saw one girl vomit in the toilet. She was damn thin and pale. What a miserable sight. The hospital was packed and all the parking spaces are full. I have to park on the side road. Before that I have no idea there are so many sick people around. All the units/departments of the hospital are full and crowded. It is not easy to believe there are so many sick people around. Diseases are every where then. Hospital are mushrooming too a lot.

I thought I am the most unluckiest person without enough money and no love, yet there are still so many worst off. I should be grateful and thankful for what I am and what I have. Should appreciate my life more after all those scenes and views. Wish I am forever healthy. Forever young at heart and at brain and at all my organs too.

Test your downloading speed

I have used iZZinet Bandwidth Speed Test to measure my downloading speed. Mine is only 290 kbps for downloading and 71 kbps for up loading. Thus I am unable to download any pictures in my blog as well as sending pictures through email. Report has been lodged on Sun 7/6/09 to internet provider streamyx. As at todate no improvement yet. Very frustrating and upset.

I do not know how many more days they need to take to rectify such problem. Worst they said if problem persist, they have to make an appointment with me to check my internal cable.

Very lousy snail browsing speed. I can only read a few websites. Learn not to curse them in any any vulgar language, hehe .. learn to be less tomboy, haha. Even if I do curse them, it is only at the back only. Never in front.

Floral Festival, Botanical Garden

Today's weather is a very hot and sunny. Yesterday was equally hot. I went to the Floral Festival yesterday. Since 2005 I have been visiting it yearly. I walked a few rounds admiring the flowers. I had snapped many beautiful pictures of the flowers, trees and stalls. However due to internet connection slow speed I am unable to download those pictures. (I have tried more than 10 times downloading, each time connection failure and the pictures are unable to download) I have reported the slow speed to Streamyx. I had wished I did no go there as I do no want to waste any more money unnecessarily. I bought four plants back. One hibiscus plant, one butterfly pant, one lime and one which the name in Malay is called "buah delima".

I wonder if there are others users from the northern region facing this problem.

Other than that all matters are satisfactory. As usual non working days for me are busy day for me. I try to catch up with the washing, sleeping and resting.

I feel so good tonight.

If everything goes smoothly I shall go to visit the Floral Festival at Botanical garden tomorrow.

Lesson on 1/6/09

I have been informed of "If I keep the weaknesses of others in my thought, they soon become part of me".

Applying this in my life i have to forget about those weaknesses of all my unbecoming friends/acquaintances. Let go. Trying to let go. I was advised to forgive them so that I can forget those unpleasant events. Apart from the virtue, forgiving is an art. Mentally we need to follow this art and master it for conquering stress. I forgive those persons who have troubled me and put me in to difficult situations.

I am aware that to become disturbed and angry is harmful to my health.
